Welcome.
We’re glad you found your way here. At Focus Medical and Mental Healthcare Inc, we understand that looking into mental health care is a personal decision—one that deserves respect and genuine support.
A Gentle Introduction to Who We Are
Focus Medical and Mental Healthcare was founded by Francis Okafor, MSN, PMHNP-BC.
He’s a psychiatric nurse practitioner and military veteran who founded this practice on a simple idea: mental health care should feel human.
His approach is to stay calm, listen carefully, and respect where you are in your journey.
After serving in the Army National Guard and years in nursing, he knows that real healing happens when you feel truly heard.
Our Services
We offer psychiatric care through video appointments for teenagers (10-17) and adults:
- Mental health assessments – Sitting down together to understand what’s been happening and what you’re hoping for
- Medication management – If medication makes sense, we find what works and keep an eye on how you’re doing
- Anxiety support – Help for the racing thoughts, panic attacks, and that feeling of being on edge
- Depression care – Working through the heaviness, mood changes, and days when everything feels harder
- ADHD treatment – Support for focus issues, impulsivity, and feeling scattered
- Bipolar disorder care – Managing those mood swings and finding more stable ground
- Trauma therapy – Gentle support for flashbacks, triggers, and the aftermath of difficult experiences
- Conduct disorder treatment – Behavioral support for kids and teens who are acting out or struggling with authority
- OCD support – Help with intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that take over your day
- Eating disorder care – Treatment of disordered eating behaviors and complex relationships with food and body
- Borderline personality disorder therapy – Help with emotional regulation and relationship challenges
- Psychotic disorder treatment – Care for symptoms like hallucinations or delusions
- Stress management – Tools for dealing with chronic stress, anxiety, or burnout
Why Video Appointments Work
Meeting from your own space changes everything. There’s no travel stress, you don’t have to wait for your appointment, and there’s no running into someone you know.
Just you and Francis having a real conversation about what matters.
Many clients tell us video sessions feel more natural.
What’s Going to Happen in Your First Session
Initiating mental health care is an experience similar to entering the unexplored. Francis understands that.
He will want to know your history—what happened, what treatments you have already tried, what seems to work, what does not.
But he does it at the rate that suits you.
Some people want to dive deep right away; others need time to warm up. Both are perfectly fine.
- No pressure – Just bring yourself and any questions you have
- Tech is simple – We send clear instructions for connecting, and can do a quick test run if you want
- Your pace – Some sessions are more talking, others more listening. We follow your lead
- Clear next steps – You’ll leave knowing what we discussed and what comes next
- Time to think – No pressure to make decisions on the spot

That’s totally fine. Lots of people haven’t. We’ll figure it out as we go.
